Goals

The initial inspiration of this editorial comes from The Scarlet Letter: A Romance is a work of historical fiction by American author Nathaniel Hawthorne, published in 1850. The novel shed light on the 17th-century Puritan times. And tells the story of Hester Prynne. A woman who has to wear The scarlet letter A as a sign of the adultery she committed on her clothes along with the public shaming. Throughout the book, Hawthorne explores themes of legalism, sin, and guilt.

My approach focuses on the afterward; when Hester removed the symbol of shame, she can embrace the woman she truly is. A free woman from all the labels who is still modest yet seductive. The A letter is still visible within her, but it transcends into the color red, makeup, and soul in my editorial.
